Sign your child up for the 2017 Summer Reading Program!
The Summer Reading Program is for children entering Pre K through 3rd Grade.
Children will receive a passport to record titles read, and will sign a contract to decide how many books to read during the program.
It will be held Tuesdays and Thursday mornings May 30 – July 13, excluding the week of June 13 and 15, due to Bible School.
2nd – 3rd Grade meets from 9:00-10:00 and Pre-K 1st Grade meets from 9:45-10:45.
At 10:45, the Canton-Galva School Bus will pick up children at the Library, for those who wish to attend the Free School Lunch Program in Galva, and will return them after lunch.
For those that finish their passport contract, there will be a party on July 13th!
After a rain out for the first scheduled Story Walk on April 29 and an adjustment for the Summer Reading Program, the outdoor Story Walk is rescheduled for May 27th during regular Library Hours. 1:00-3:00. There will be 13 stations spaced throughout the area surrounding the Library telling the story of “Nine Ducks Nine”. Each child will receive a map and stickers to follow the story. Come take part in this unique and fun event and sign your child up for the Summer Reading Program while your here!
The Library was hopping with Canton-Galva Preschoolers during Preschool Story Time on May 11. Teacher, Kristi Snow, and Assistant, Sandy Schmidt, brought the A.M. and P.M. classes by after having visited Maxwell Wildlife Refuge. Librarian, Mary Clements, read a story, played a game, and provided snacks and activities for everyone. This was truly a high point for our sweet library!
Due to the 90% chance of rain ALL DAY LONG this Saturday, April 29, we are reluctantly postponing our outdoor Story Walk. It is rescheduled for Saturday June 3rd in conjunction with our Summer Reading enrollment. Put this on your calendar and plan to be there with your little ones!
